I’m not one who enjoys contributing to panic, but I wanted to update you all from a professional position on my suggested best practices when it comes to Your Henna during the current days of hyper vigilant hygiene especially as Spring beckons along with lots of upcoming market and festival events.
Washing Your Hands – The most basic of hygiene practices and something we need to be doing with more vigilance than usual. Does this mean that you will need to wash your henna and ruin your henna design on your hand? Yes. It does. But read on…
Where to have Your Henna – I would suggest you avoid having henna on your hands as a precautionary measure HOWEVER, you still have the remaining entirety of your skin available for body art. Inner forearms, outer forearms, biceps, shoulders, tops of feet (wear sandals), shins (wear loose trousers) are all brilliant places to wear Your Henna. Your Henna stain will of course vary depending on the placement you decide, but I will be attaching some pictures of henna stains to this blogpost to help you visualise the possibilities
What hygiene practices to expect from Your Henna artist – Some fundamentals to expect from Your Henna artist:
* Good/Excellent personal hygiene habits
* Available hand sanitation (+60% alcohol content)
* Pre-henna disinfectant spray/wipe (alcohol wipes or spray)
* Work surface disinfectant. Particularly for non-porous work surfaces which must be wiped down between each client
* Available face mask/gloves if your immune system is compromised
* Self awareness of exposure to covid 19, and practicing self isolation
What if henna at a public event is not an option for you? You can always book a studio appointment in a private room with on site WC facilities PLUS all of the above listed hygiene practices.
A suggested alternative for hand designs – You could consider a Jagua appointment at the studio. Since aftercare for Jagua is so different from henna, it could be a great alternative. More information available here.
And finally as a gift to soften the inconvenience of any market/festival cancellations, please use the following code to enjoy a 50% discount on 1 hour plus appointments at the studio:
