I bring this blog post to you today to warn all my henna lovers out there AGAINST “Naz Henna” cones: These are NOT NATURAL HENNA!!
These cones are produced in a warehouse in Surat, Gujurat, India where they are popular despite local reports of itching and reactions.
They are then shipped out, worldwide with prices range from £150/500 cones to £45/100 cones – INCLUDING delivery. That’s a varying cost of 30p to 45p PER CONE (including delivery!!). The cone is then sold on to individuals in the UK (or United States) at around £1 plus P+P. Just LOOK at that profit markup.
The contents of these cones have been used by many artists for practice on acrylic hands and left PERMANENT stains.
If you know my obsession with fresh henna you will know that:
FRESH HENNA PASTE…
- Is perishable, just like fresh fruit, and will only last a few days IN REFRIGERATION for body art purposes. Longer *if* frozen (this service is unavailable in regular international shipping conditions).
- Should not be shipped out to worldwide destinations due to said perishability.
- Is labour intensive to mix, cultivate, cone and package (at 45p per cone, what conditions are the Naz employees working under?)
- Does not stain acrylic.
And so, I warn you:
DO NOT BUY THESE CONES
DO NOT SELL THESE CONES
DO NOT USE THESE CONES IF YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF A PROFESSIONAL HENNA ARTIST
PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH YOUR HENNA LOVING FRIENDS AND FAMILY
