2020 to 2021 has been one of the most difficult years of our lifetimes and while we have a road map to recovery, life is far from “back to normal”. Indeed, many things shouldn’t go back to “normal” as deep social issues need to be addressed and rectified. But advocating and speaking out against our systems and long-held social ideas can be traumatic, frightening, and incredibly intimidating. Using your voice isn’t as easy as prominent activists can make it sometimes appear – as it comes with great social costs.
Why wear activism art?
Starting difficult conversations is not appealing – I get it. Or even, correcting someone’s misguided views can feel like it comes with huge sociat costs. Wearing a beautiful piece of body art to represent your views can be a non-confrontational way of highlighting a subject that is important to you.
